Frontier Ironworks
★★★★★ 4.5
Frontier Ironworks hands you a tiny mountain outpost and asks you to turn it into a working town before winter storms and raiders wear it down. You manage resources, assign workers and plan defenses on a grid, and it all unfolds at a pace you control.
I appreciated that you can pause and think. There's no real-time panic unless you want it — a difficulty slider lets you lean more into the building or more into the fighting. Everything saves offline, and a full campaign fit neatly into my commute over two weeks.
It's not the flashiest game, but the loop of fixing one bottleneck and watching your town grow is quietly addictive.
